We have had a busy but very fun time the last couple of weeks. The Grand Opening was amazing and we really like our new space in the Nelson Cultural Center. The store keeps filling up with new stuff and last week we received a shipment with Jewelry from SNÖ of Sweden.

Swedish Midsummer - Midsommar

Tomorrow it's Midsummer Eve, the lightest day of the year and a tradition celebrated all over Sweden. This year The American Swedish Institute will not have a midsummer celebration since we are preparing for the Grand Opening June 30th. Prepare yourself for a great day tomorrow, we have everything you need for your kitchen for serving a perfect Midsummer buffe.

Trays by Sagaform makes me feel at home, snaps glasses is a must and Happy Days by Sagaform adds the perfect color touch to the buffe table.

Visit our online store or come visit us in our new space in the NCC Building. This week I miss the bright nights in Sweden and the preparations for the Midsummer party. Where I come from the sun never sets at this time of the year...

Fjällräven Kånken

What are your plans for the summer? This backpack from Fjällräven is the perfect bag to every occasion. Fjällräven originally comes from my hometown Örnsköldsvik in Sweden and it is amazing to see people carrying it all over the world. When I was in New York in August 2011 I saw Fjällräven backpacks in all the trendy independent shops and now you can get it at the Museum shop at the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. Pick your favorite color and start using it. It comes in different sizes and colors so it fits everyone. What is your favorite color?!

The Mutewatch

This morning I was reading Veckans Affärer which is a Swedish magazine covering business stories and the CEO and founder of Mutewatch was on the front page of the latest issue. The design of the watches from Mutewatch seems to come from the future and the whole product is super cool. The first time I tried it on I could not stop playing with it. It has a touch screen, it vibrates and the design is both sporty and fashionable. A Mutewatch does not have regular batteries, you just attach the USB port to your computer and it charges that way. Check out the video below to see how amazing it is. Check out ShopSwedish online store for more info.

Urbanears

This season is all about pastel colors and what can be more right than a pair of earbuds or headphones in that color. Colorful earbuds and headphones is an extra spice for your daily outfit. What I like the most with Urbanears is that it fits anyone. Boy, girl, woman, man it does not matter and I promise you that it is not only a great accessory, it also gives a great sound. I was so happy when I saw them at the Museum shop since I know the designer behind the fancy boxes. My favorite is the lavender earbuds. What is your favorite?! Check out Urbanears and the colors here!
